David M Yost, M.A., Ed.S., is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education at Ohio University in Athens. He attended the University of Virginia, graduating in 2005 with a B.A. in Psychology. After working at Minnick Education Center, an alternative school in Roanoke, VA for students diagnosed with severe behavior disorders, David pursued his M.A. and Ed.S. degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at James Madison University. Following graduation in 2009, David spent a year working for the Community Services Board (state mental health agency) as an emergency psychiatric assessment clinician in Virginia's New River Valley. David currently works as a group and individual counselor in a Suboxone maintenance treatment program for opioid addictions based in Ohio University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. David's research interests include the quality of rural mental health services, crisis and solution-focused counseling interventions, and the use of philosophy of science to supplement education in research methods for students of Counseling.
